AccraTec’s Project Organization

Project Organization:

The development of new equipment is a very fluid process. We believe that AccraTec can offer our clients the best value by working on large projects in three main phases:

Phase I - Concepting, Feasibility Studies, and Preliminary Engineering
Phase II - Design Engineering, Detailing
Phase III - Manufacturing, Commissioning

We prefer to be involved as early in the process as possible to help the client determine needs and expectations and provide conceptual solutions. This is often the most critical portion of the project as it defines the scope and direction of the project. It may be necessary to investigate many possible solutions to find the best cost vs. performance value. Decisions at this stage have the greatest impact on the overall success and budget of the entire project.

At the start of a project, AccraTec will provide an estimate for Phase I engineering. An individual or team of engineers will work closely with the client to develop concepts and define the process, equipment, and design specifications. At the end of Phase I, the client will be presented with a detailed design specification and an estimated budget for the second and third Phases of the project.

If a change from the original scope of the project is called for at a client’s request or due to the discovery of unforeseen circumstances, we will openly discuss the impact and allow the client to choose the direction. If we estimate that the change will cause the final engineering cost to exceed the preliminary budget we will communicate the revised estimate. If, in the end, the change really doesn’t take as much as previously anticipated, any savings is directly seen as the client only pays for the work that is completed.

By working in phases on a “pay as you go” basis the client is not locked into making a large financial commitment up front. This process allows the client to be more closely in control of the costs and direction of a project. Depending on the project and the client, AccraTec will work on an open purchase order or within a not to exceed budget. Direct project engineering, design, and detailing time is tracked and the client is invoiced monthly (net 30 days). The client is only charged for the actual time spent on a project. Therefore, on any projects that require less work than originally budgeted the savings are passed on to the client.

Engineering Rates:

AccraTec is an Engineering company - our product is Engineering. We have a graduated scale of hourly rates based on the activity being performed.
